And now a little background on skateparks. The first skateparks were primarily private, for-profit endeavors, although several public parks were built globally. Parks then included pools, bowls, snake runs, freestyle areas, banked slalom areas, half-pipes, and full pipes. Most were concrete and were outdoors. In more extreme climates parks were built indoors, often of wood.
The modern public skatepark is relatively new, made possible by legislation such as California's 1998 law stating that skateboarding is an inherently "Hazardous Recreational Activity" (HRA), and therefore municipalities and their employees may not be held liable for claims of negligence resulting in skateboarders' injuries. Parks are usually for persons 14 or over.
The Tony Hawk Foundation is at the forefront of helping cities to get skateparks built. The Tony Hawk Foundation seeks to foster lasting improvements in society, with an emphasis on supporting and empowering youth. Through special events, grants, and technical assistance, the Foundation supports recreational programs with a focus on the creation of public skateboard parks in low-income communities. The Foundation favors programs that clearly demonstrate that funds received will produce tangible, ongoing, positive results.

Park Description
This is the Reservation Skatepark in Hyde Park, MA. It is actually part of the city of Boston, I guess. It used to be the hotspot for the tranny crew around Boston until Newburyport came about-now this park is usually empty. The Bowl is fun, but has a bit too much flat and therefore requires some extra pumpin'. The mini ramp is tight but has a few waves in the surface because only has one noisy layer on it. The Street area has a lot of true street elements like the Loading Dock, some manual pads, a few scary handrails to skate, and a curvy bench-ledge thing.
DIRECTIONS: Take I- 95 to Exit 14. Follow the rotary around to the East Street/Dedham turnoff. Follow East St. to the next rotary. Bear 1st Right out of rotary, uphill onto Sprague St. Follow Sprague for two miles or so until you pass the Readville T station. Turn right after station and cross over the bridge. Turn left onto Hyde Park Ave, and follow for half a mile to the Boston Police Warehouse. Bear left, and turn next left onto Reservation Road. The skatepark is on your left.

sk84lifeNR - i don't know what i was thinking, i saw people doing pot ONCE. but the 7 stair is wicked fun, but no runway (hard for a little guy like me) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNKbwfNFb4Y
handrail is easy to get onto, but drives you right to the ground.

Richardperkins - It is a good size park. No people are doing drugs. The street course is really nicely built and a lot of fun. Scooter, rollerbladers, bmxers, and skateboarders are all welcome. Great park! Worth the trip! Just do not go in the bowl. The bmxers are always hogging. There are also a lot of rocks in it and I got hurt from bailing in it. I am okay now. Locals are nice to newcomers. They bring grind rails and other rapms for you to skate on. Mini ramp is good for first comers, and experts. COME ON DOWN! TOTALLY WOTH IT!
