And now a little background on skateparks. The first skateparks were primarily private, for-profit endeavors, although several public parks were built globally. Parks then included pools, bowls, snake runs, freestyle areas, banked slalom areas, half-pipes, and full pipes. Most were concrete and were outdoors. In more extreme climates parks were built indoors, often of wood.
The modern public skatepark is relatively new, made possible by legislation such as California's 1998 law stating that skateboarding is an inherently "Hazardous Recreational Activity" (HRA), and therefore municipalities and their employees may not be held liable for claims of negligence resulting in skateboarders' injuries. Parks are usually for persons 14 or over.
The Tony Hawk Foundation is at the forefront of helping cities to get skateparks built. The Tony Hawk Foundation seeks to foster lasting improvements in society, with an emphasis on supporting and empowering youth. Through special events, grants, and technical assistance, the Foundation supports recreational programs with a focus on the creation of public skateboard parks in low-income communities. The Foundation favors programs that clearly demonstrate that funds received will produce tangible, ongoing, positive results.

Dennis Cline - i have heard many things about the old drop in and they were good things because they had better things to skate in the past yrs. and now they have changed it and it all just sucks no offense they need to rebuild it the way it use to be in the past yrs. not the way it is now.then the park would be alot nicer and better

grindtolipslide - Oh no the corn people are breeding again. Here's another one-"BridgesBoarding". No you have it all mixed up "bro". I use to go there all of the time in the park's better days. Those days are long gone and now it seems that the good people who use to be involved in this, now, shit hole are gone too. I didn't fall dropping in. I have been skating for 21 years, so dropping in is quite seemless. Thank you to the guys that were working the counter that let us in for free since we drove from Chicago to New Lenoxtucky. I offered my review of this place (that's what this site is for right?)and all of the inbreedin' cousins are all upset now. When you are an ass backwards redneck that blasts gangster rap in your hee haw skate park you loose sight of what the leave comments section is all about.

grindtolipslide - This one is for non sence three year old. I am an idiot huh? Not so fast corn husk cousin lover. If Drop In is such a great skatepark would't they update the pictures of their skatepark? You bet the owner should should spend the money out of his pocket to keep the skatepark going. C'mon who else is responsible for funding it? Drop In on some of the worst ramps ever built. Sence Three is famous he was in Deliverence and Children Of The Corn!

grindtolipslide - I see that my comments have gotten the "Children Of The Corn" kids in New Lenox all worked up! That's great. I would be angry and defensive, too, if I lived in the middle of nowhere and only had this terrible skatepark to go to. This skatepark used to be great and so were the people there. You can see that when you give your honest opinion here they resort to name calling. Well so can I Corn Kids. HEE HAW!!!

etikJustin - the real drop in is awesome but those are not pics of the real drop in so get them off
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
kennythekoolest - this park is an awsome place to skate. so all the people out there that obviously dont know how to skate think that place sux. so really get your facts strait before you dish drop in
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
sense_three - grindtolipslide is an idiot. Thats not drop in. and drop in is awesome. is has changed over time, and its getting even better. its not a public park, so everything that is done is done by the owner out of pocket(thanks mike). if you feel like complaining so much, then don't go there. but don't bash an awesome park. where else are you gonna go in the winter. drop in for sure.

dropinmike - If that's Drop In, someone moved it!
